Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet community situated in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" place. This part of the island known as West Island can be confusing for those who aren't familiar to its significance. It is often believed that it is an island west of Montreal However, it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the two cities in Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently cited, however her short stay was not. Brugel grew up in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. She had a dream to be a dancer however a rapid growth rate led to her growing beyond the dancers she was with. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6 feet 1 inch tall and has heels. When I surpassed the size of my male companion and stopped dancing, I quit. Many former dancers turn into acting. In Brugel's situation, it was a nudge from a high school drama teacher that pushed her in the right direction. One of her teachers suggested she take part in an audition for the annual school production. The audition was successful and she was chosen as Anne of Green Gables. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. For the past twenty years, the roles played by Brugel on television and the big screen have varied. Her role as Rita from the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale was her most notable. Brugel was only seen on a few occasions in the first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. The only Canadian participant.
